Yeah.....one more win. It's a Leafs echo spring. Marner to the Memorial Cup, the Marlies march to the Calder Cup. Then the draft. 2016 is the year that turned the franchise around. We could have had this much sooner, but other GM's foolishly threw away years and assets. I think the Shanaplan is working marvelously.

Preds are done.

STL vs SJ should be a great West final. Two teams who couldn't carry perennial regular season success into the playoffs facing off for a spot in the Cup final. Good times

Go Blues!

Better late than never. I was beginning to believe we'd never see it done properly.

True - and I agree. But this team will be ready to rock and roll before a goalie drafted this year is ready to be a number one goalie. Therefore a trade is likely and inevitable.
- winsix

Let's say if the Leafs trade for Andersen. In five years (estimated time an 18 year old drafted goalie will be NHL ready), Andersen will be 30/31. Having a 22-24 year old backup who could take over (Tampa Bay as an example), would be great.

The best solution to fix our goaltending issues, is to trade for a legitimate starter in the offseason, while drafting a couple in the next two drafts. Good for the present, good for the future.

Agreed, but not in the first two rounds at least. Good goalies can be drafted in later rounds. It's all about development.

Well.. the Leaafs have a poop ton of picks so now is as good as time as any..

but are there really any good goalies in the draft?

they could trade for a guy like samsonov whos already been drafted.. a little further along in the development process..

With Hunter pulling the strings on the draft, second and third rounders will be like 1st and 2nd rounders

Wells and Parsons can be had in the third, probably. Fitzpatrick and Hart are most likely going in the second. I don't know enough about Gustavsson to predict where he's going, but he's a high ranked goalie prospect as well.

Maybe we could trick Washington into another Forsberg-Erat type deal, and snag Samsonov for Bozak.

Lou should take the Caps GM fishing sometime. You know, to negotiate a deal.

I doubt the Caps would have the cap space (or lack of brain cells) for that.

Yes and no. If you think you can get a potential starter at 31, and don't believe he'll be there for your next pick you should take him.
